NORTH BEACH MEDICAL EQUIPMENT
“A VOLUNTEER’S VIEW POINT”
I have worked in the medical field for many, many years and I won’t say how many that is, however, I am beyond retirement. Upon moving here a year ago, I found little to do, so I went inquiring here and there.
Through various roundabouts, I found Rich Lindquist, Founder and President of North Beach Medical Equipment. He was in need of Volunteers, so I signed-up. I am so glad I did so. It is humbling to see the needs of our community fulfilled with FREE durable medical equipment. People are so overwhelmed to find a place like Rich’s. Often times it takes months or years to get approved for their needs by insurance companies, including Medicare, that they just feel lost. If we have the equipment that is needed, with or without a prescription, we will supply it at NO COST for as long as it is needed and then hopefully returned. There have been many times when I came to good tears as clients also shed tears of gratitude.
Being retired can be lonely, boring, stagnant, and unhealthy for us mentally, physically and emotionally. Instead of just sitting and watching TV, I found a wonderful place to be. I can come in any time, for any amount of time, and any day, except Saturdays or Sundays, when the store is closed. A person can take a break, have lunch when hungry and ask Rich for something simple to do, or plow into something more complicated. You see, we disassemble, inspect, service and clean donated items. And yes, I’m a gal and find it interesting and fun. Rich is very friendly, respectful, caring, accommodating, and makes it a fun place to work. Nothing mundane here!
As we become elders in life, we often need to be cared for, have a sense of belonging and feel connected to our community. Boy can we do that at NBME! This small, precious city is full of gracious and heart-warming folks. What better way to serve our Creator, then to give service as a VOLUNTEER and to give that service through NBME. We have served over 1,300 people and went from helping 16 people per month to 97! Because of our stupendous growth, we have had to move from next to Bud’s Barber Shop and are now in the same building as the U-haul and Moped store at the entrance to Ocean Shores. Since we are growing so fast, we are in need of more VOLUNTEERS. Would you, especially you guys, please help us to help others in this community, and become one of our VOLUNTEERS! See you at the North Beach Medical Equipment Store.

North Beach Medical Equipment is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity that provides durable medical equipment to people of the North Beach area. We do this absolutely free and they can use the equipment for as long as they need it. There are no income/age/gender requirements, if someone needs help, we will help them.
What makes North Beach Medical Equipment different from most other medical equipment lending programs is that all of the equipment is inspected, disassemble, serviced and cleaned before it leaves our office. This is not hard work, but it is very important. We also have regular office work such as talking with clients, data entry, telephone calls and writing thank you notes. We offer a very low stress working environment with flexible hours and accommodations for your physical strengths or limitations. We encourage people of all ages and abilities to visit with us and find out if we are a good fit for each other.
Each year North Beach Medical Equipment helps more than 2,100 area people in their time of need. Now, we need your help, will you step up and help us to keep helping others?
